The compact electric SUV segment in Australia is heating up, and Zeekr has just raised the stakes. The premium EV brand from Geely has officially launched the updated 2026 Zeekr X, bringing significant upgrades to power, charging speeds, and standard equipment — all while slashing the price. Now starting from $48,900 drive-away, the Zeekr X offers a highly compelling alternative to the established players in the market.

2026 Zeekr X Australian Pricing

The 2026 update brings aggressive new pricing that positions the Zeekr X firmly below the $50,000 mark. The entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant is now priced at $48,900 drive-away nationwide, representing a drop of more than $5,000 compared to the previous model’s before-on-roads pricing. The flagship Performance All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variant has seen an even larger price cut, now available from $57,900 drive-away.

This aggressive pricing strategy places the Zeekr X in direct competition with the Kia EV3 and the Hyundai Kona Electric, while significantly undercutting premium European rivals like the Volvo EX30. Furthermore, both variants sit comfortably below the Luxury Car Tax threshold, making the Zeekr X an excellent candidate for buyers considering a novated lease.

More Power and Faster Charging

The 2026 update is not just about a price cut; it also delivers a substantial performance boost. Both variants gain an additional 50kW of power. The RWD model now produces 250kW and 373Nm of torque from its single rear motor, allowing it to sprint from 0-100km/h in a brisk 5.6 seconds. The Performance AWD variant adds a 115kW front motor for a combined output of 365kW and 573Nm, dropping the 0-100km/h time to a blistering 3.7 seconds.

The Performance AWD variant delivers 365kW of power and hits 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds.

Battery technology has also been upgraded. The RWD model now features Zeekr’s new 61kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Golden Battery with Cell-to-Pack architecture, delivering a WLTP range of 405 kilometres. The Performance AWD retains a 66kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, offering a slightly longer 415-kilometre WLTP range. When it is time to plug into the Australian EV charging network, the RWD model boasts an impressive new peak DC charging rate of 230kW, allowing a 10 to 80 per cent charge in approximately 18 minutes. The AWD model peaks at 150kW, taking roughly 30 minutes for the same charge. Home charging has also been improved, with the RWD model now supporting 11kW AC charging and the AWD model upgraded to 22kW.

A Premium and Feature-Packed Interior

The interior of the Zeekr X leans heavily into its premium positioning. The cabin is dominated by a crisp 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument display. The 2026 update makes several previously optional features standard across the range, including a 13-speaker Yamaha premium sound system, a panoramic glass roof, and six-way power-adjustable front seats that are both heated and ventilated.

Stepping up to the Performance AWD variant adds a layer of luxury rarely seen in this segment. It includes massaging front seats, a built-in centre console fridge, a massive 24.3-inch augmented reality head-up display, and 20-inch forged alloy wheels. Practicality has also been addressed in the 2026 update, with boot space increasing from 342 litres to a more usable 404 litres. Safety remains a priority, with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera system, automated parking, and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features standard across the range.
