The 2026 Polestar 5 takes the Swedish brand into a new space: an all-electric grand tourer developed on a bespoke aluminium platform rather than sharing its foundations with another model. It is a five-door liftback with low, wide proportions, huge power outputs and an 800V electrical system, aimed at drivers who want performance-car pace without leaving electric touring behind.
Two dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants are available to order for Australia. The Long Range Dual Motor uses 20-inch aero wheels, double-wishbone suspension, four-piston Brembo front brakes, Pixel matrix LED headlights, a panoramic glass roof, four-zone climate control and a 14.5-inch centre touchscreen. Every Polestar 5 has a 112kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery, of which 106kWh is usable, and 800V electrical architecture. Performance and chassis
The Long Range Dual Motor produces 550kW and 812Nm, enough for a claimed 3.9-second 0–100km/h time. The Performance increases outputs to 650kW and 1,015Nm, cutting the claim to 3.2 seconds. Both are exceptionally fast, although the character of the Polestar 5 is intended to be more grand tourer than stripped-out track car.
The core of the car is Polestar Performance Architecture, a bonded aluminium structure designed to be light and stiff. Double-wishbone suspension is fitted at both ends and the Performance receives adaptive MagneRide dampers. Cabin, practicality and ownership
The Polestar 5 has a 9-inch driver display, a 9.5-inch head-up display and a 14.5-inch portrait-format centre screen using Android Automotive software.
